With a new webmaster in the wings and a shiny new site underway is it time perhaps to seek new advertisers? I was thinking of larger organisations such as BT that I often see across other forums. Or has this already been discussed ?
Still the same old webmaster, new techie coming Good thinking, don't think we've gone for the big ones, mainly gardening based ones
The Webmaster owns the site...........and the Techie [in this case Peter] maintains and upgrades GC and comes to our rescue when there's a technical fault. That is always under review and discussion believe me, but we are still in a Recession and advertising is not a top priority of a lot of companies...........and for those it is they want it free!! But it is good to see that Admin are not the only ones thinking about ways to earn income, Loofah
No apologies needed Andy Our webmaster keeps a low profile unless there's a new packet of Hobnobs in the office
Yeah, but he never buys them, Ziggy, only puts his feet after pinching a cup of tea and eating the Hobnobs.
Hobnobs you say? We used those as currency during Officer training! Amazing what you can achieve with a packet of biscuits and a 5 minute window of opportunity... Perhaps I'll have a quick look around to see what might be possible. Any stats available as leverage? (membership numbers, unique visitors etc) Is there an intro for Pete yet?
Maybe I'm not getting the idea! Does it matter who the advertiser/sponsor is? As long as the income is sufficient to run the website (including donations, an idea that I approve of) who the sponsor is seems immaterial. Of course, another one should always be lined up in case the current one drops out. I presume the smaller ads come through Google and your own cookies.
Always nice to be able to turn more than you need in case of a rainy day Shiney. I'm only pondering the possibility and you're quite right that it doesn't matter who or where it comes from (within reason!)
Nup. My experience of a webmaster has always been the person that controls the site; for me that has always included both tech and ownership. Different sites have different set ups so just wanted to be clear.
