This is doing the rounds on Bookface at the moment. Seems like a good plan to me.

      Oh not anther "Clegg".
There are far too many of them,

I thought we were buying from the government, bearing in mind they take the biggest share without even moving a finger.

While I fully agree that we pay far too much tax on fuel in this country of ours (I think about 70% of the price is made up of various taxes), its not entirely fair to say the government does nowt for it. I believe our navy, air force and coast guard are very active in guarding and protecting our oil pipelines and rigs.

The plan circulating on Bookface makes sense to me. I've shared it on.

I had another idea at the time of the fuel blockades a few years ago. The blockades annoyed me because they delayed me getting home from work and made it harder for me to buy a loaf of bread. At that time, I used a car park for work that if you didn't get in early, you weren't getting in because it quickly filled up. Then I'd have to drive across the city in rush hour to the nearest practical alternative, which would also fill up by 9AM. So the idea struck me that you can bring the country to its knees without stopping anyone getting home or wherever they needed to be. If all the protesters simply got up half an hour early and put their cars in a city centre car park, then everyone would be late for work that day, and businesses always carry more weight than individuals when trying to influence anything.

I think it should be a day when every thing stops, the lost of tax will be big, but the worst part will be that everybody will go out a buy things the next day :rolleyespink::scratch::stirpot::th scifD36:

Although it sounds a nice idea it's not only impracticable but virtually impossible. It's similar to the pyramid selling ideas.

Most people mainly know others in their area, so, if they send to ten people they know and those ten send to ten people they know, you will soon be getting it back from others in your area that you didn't send it to. It's surprising how quickly it grinds to a halt!

            Sorry!!! :love30:

I personally would like to see petrol price lowered.
I do wonder though, how much the oil companies can drop it and still make a profit, bearing in mind the supermarkets are undercutting them most of the time, only by a couple of pence.

I still think its the government who are to blame, meanwhile we run around on third world roads because they spend the money on other things, rather than giving it to local authorities.
How about road tax being collected by the county councils, and a guaranteed percentage of the fuel tax being payed to them also, for road maintenance.

Sounds great. Doubt it'll happen though.
I am spending an absolute fortune on fuel and car tax. Cause I don't have a fancy new low emissions car I'm punished with massive road tax while people who do just as much damage to roads in there brand new cars drive for free! Angry!

See what you mean Shiney, but its not quite like that on facebook, rather than sending it on, people share the post, which makes it visible to all their friends, who in turn can share it to make it visible to a whole different set of friends. Things can very quickly hit the hundreds of thousands views.

I shared it from my mate in Bridport, then Clueless shared it from my page so all his mates can see it and so on.

Clueless's mates know me as "That bloke what speaks foreign & goes on about Badgers."

Woah, what car do you have?
My last car was £270 and that was bad enough.
My 2 current cars are £170 and £220. I don't mind paying that, I just think its ridiculous that some cars are free. In fact it's outrageous.
Give me the money to go and buy a brand new low emission car, or a fancy hybrid! Great. But some of us don't have that kind of money.
My main car still returns over 50mpg so it's hardly a gas guzzling environment killer. And the amount of plants in my garden surely make up for the CO2 emission lol!

I have a 2 litre Diesel C Max and that was £125 pounds for this year. I understand a petrol equivalent is around a £100 more? Why it is still referred as a "Road" tax is a mystery to me as the revenue does not go into the renovation and upkeep of roads but straight into the coffers of the Government and gets lost from there. What small fraction of the paid Road Tax goes into roads is probably too small to calculate.:dunno:
