Great idea , you can also use a old but washed out bath sponge sitting in a tray of water

Whilst mowing the wild area this morning I nearly mowed these! :hate-shocked:

The nest is in the roots of a plum tree. They were flying in and out too fast for my inexpert eye to tell whether they were bees or wasps.

It seems as though it would be ideal for wasps as this is their favourite plum tree. On the other hand, it's amongst our bee orchids.

If they're bees then I shall tread carefully around them with a smile on my face. If they're wasps, do I need to do anything about them? It's amongst my fruit trees so, when the fruit is ripe, I want to be able to pick them safely.
