Thanks Richard but to be honest I don't think uninstalling/re-installing Chrome will make any difference. I've had this problem since GC first changed to Xenforo.

I see, well problem is xenforo works fine on about 20k forums. so its some conflict between your computer/software and this site.

do you have access to any other computers to try from there?

I'm prepared to put up with the problem but if it could be sorted it would be a bonus. :)

Yes, I have access to my husbands computer I'll give it a try sometime in the next couple of days, thanks.

Hi Richard, I have exactly the same problem on my husbands computer.....but.....I came across something interesting.

We both have the same make of laptop computers but different models. By pure chance this evening I discovered that if I tap the scroll bar function twice on the right of the mouse pad (on both machines) it highlights pretty much what I want for a quote without highlighting everything above on the thread....very strange!

Referring to your thought about conflict between computer/software and this site brings me to another point. I still have problems loading pictures either through IE or Google Chrome particularly when the site is busy. I wonder if this is all connected?

Assuming you are normally using the Mouse Pad do you have an option to try a Mouse instead? I have Mouse Pad on my laptop, but prefer a mouse, so I have a USB one plugged in - I can use either to control the cursor etc. I was just thinking that if you tried a mouse-mouse :heehee: and if that worked correctly then its an issue with the Mouse Pad - process of elimination that us techies like to go through ...

@Richard.r Been meaning to mention this. The old Quote use to allow Highlight and "Quote", the new one offers "+Quote" and "Reply" (both available before/now in the Options at the bottom of the post, although the new highlight and "+Quote" works on a highlighted snippet rather than the whole message)

        Difference is:

Reply: Quotes the text into the Reply box and immediately scrolls down to the reply box. Useful for quoting a single point, provided that you have been able to read all the remainder of the thread too (otherwise I find I then have to scroll back and try to find where I was and then continue reading)

New +Quote: Adds to the Quote List. To insert the quotes you have to press "INSERT QUOTES" then get a popup, and then approve the quotes, they are then inserted into the Reply box and away you go.

Old Quote: Highlight text, press "quote" and it is appended to the Reply box, cursor left where is was so you can continue reading, and quoting. When you are ready scroll down to the Quote box (in practice you will have read to the end of the thread :) so are already at the Reply box) and all the snippets are there and ready for reply.

The latter suited me much better - less steps to make my reply, which saved me time.

Another benefit is that the quoted text is only from the current thread - I have been caught out by the +Quote a few times as it has stored a Quote from another thread, which I had changed my mind and not replied to, and then presented it to me in the reply I was making (of course I could have deselected it from the popup ...). Well handy for quoting across threads, but I doubt that anyone, me included, does that more than once in a blue-moon :)

In the video example there appeared to be two features demonstrated - the first was replying using "quote" the second "+quote" and it seemed that both were available (although I have no idea how one sets one / the other).

If it were possible to have "Quote" back that would help me a lot as it would be my preferred method of replying to multiple points folk are referring to in their questions.

Perhaps it is possible to have all three options on the Pop Up when you highlight some text? (Although a User Option would be fine for me too).

Sorry if this puts you to any trouble ... I seem to always be asking for tweaks!

Sounds like you have the mouse set up to be "Left-handed". There is no problem with that if you are left-handed? Have a look in "Control Panel"->"Mouse Properties" and switch to "Right Handed" if indeed you are a southpaw :)

I have just placed this quote by double clicking the mouse pad scroll bar.......I don't get this at all!

In answer to the above quote, yes I can try a mouse-mouse. :)

John......I don't see how the pad scroll bar can be set up for left handed, as it only scrolls on the right. I did go to 'Control Panel' and everywhere else but I couldn't find anywhere to check this out.
