            I don't think I would use stacking in its true sense (focal and aperture etc), but I may try different exposures whilst on a tripod, and overlay them (layer masks), or possibly do selective sharpening.
            I am hoping to do a little photography trip soon, but an elderly pussy may stop me.
            I have been checking out the prices of GND filters too :yikes: to minimise multiple exposures.
            My landscape lens is a Canon 17-40mm F4 L Series. I believe its optimal focal length for DOF (least distortion) is around F8/F11. I will be using it with my Depssi card to try and get the best DOF sharpness from front to back. I will give F22 a chance too though, naturally :) (again, using the card info).

              I have a collection of old Pentax and third party lenses [22] that I use with my K5 for different purposes but for Landscape I will use an old Pentax SMC f2.8 28mm or Sigma Superwide II f2.8 24mm lens as I like the results they give. I mostly take wildlife or macro shots but will in the right area take landscape shots. But, I think SteveR is a man who takes great landscape shots while also using HDR to great effect.:snork:

              The good thing about landscape lenses is the lack of need for them to be fast (maybe not true in your case), or image stabilised (if using a tripod), which obviously brings the cost down :)
              I would no doubt choose the non stabilised Canon 70-200mm (probably around £400), as opposed to the image stabilised version at probably £800-900 ??
              HDR images interest me, and I would certainly try doing that to see the effect. Sometimes they look quite surreal.
              I wonder what lens Steve uses? :)

                  I think SteveR uses a Canon camera but I'm not sure what lenses he uses. To be honest, you don't need a lot of expensive gear to get great images as it's the photographer who makes the image and SteveR is a great example of a Landscape photographer who knows his stuff.:snork:
                  I tend to use prime lenses in most of my photography rather than zoom lenses as, in my opinion, they tend to be sharper. The K5 has image stabilisation and I like that rather than having it in the lens as it gives me more choice of lenses to use. I do have around 6 zoom lenses but they usually are used for wildlife and where I think they're needed. You don't have to spend a fortune on lenses, I bought most of mine on E-bay and even though second hand they were in mint condition, and still are, when they arrived. I tend to do a lot of research before buying as not all super duper lenses are as good as they are hyped up to be.:heehee:

                    Yep prime lenses are super sharp. I used a Canon 135mm L on a wedding course, and I was blown away by it sharpness!! :)

                      No. you're right, NG, the 17-40mm has a great reputation. There's hardly a "bad" lens made today because of the intense market for lenses. My point was that I, personally, lean towards prime lens for the majority of my pics but when out on a walk usually have a telephoto lens in one pocket, a wide angle in another, and a fast prime lens on the camera. In macro I use 90mm or 100mm prime macro lenses and very rarely use autofocus as it can go off the subject and focus on something else!!!:gaah::heehee:

                      I wouldn't trust myself with manual focus on close up :biggrin:
                      Another great Canon prime lens for its cheap price tag is the 50mm F/1.8 II (about £75). An absolute bargain. This is one I won't be selling :)

                        Ebay had a Yongnuo 50mm 1.8 prime with a Nikon mount for about sixty dollars so out of curiosity, I bought one thinking that if it is junk I could get a refund if I returned it within thirty days. For that price, I am definitely keeping the lens and I bought a 35mm of the same make to keep it company in the camera bag.
