I went to London with a friend yesterday, and had a really good day out.
We did 'The Shard', which we thought quite expensive for a viewing platform, but the view is brilliant as you would expect. I think its almost 3 times higher the the London Eye.
We also did the 'London Bridge Experience', which we didn't really rate that highly
Luckily a guy advertising it at the underground station gave us a 2 for 1 ticket, so it was £12 each entry. If we had paid full price, we wouldn't have been amused.
In contrast.....'The London Dungeons' were absolutely brilliant :dbgrtmb:
Really friendly staff, and real good fun. We had a right laugh with some of the actors, during and after we left each show. There was so much to it too :) Great value for money. :dbgrtmb:
One of the women spent the whole of the first 1/2 hr (90 min experience) crying and shaking. We got out of our boat, and she had her head in her hands weeping. One of the actors touched her on the shoulder to ask if she was ok, and she turned to see her, and let out a really loud scream!! She had to leave.
We also visited the Poppy show at The London Tower, which was an amazing sight, then we moved on to Picadilly. Far too much to do in London on a day trip.
I will try and post a few pics later for anyone interested.

Sounds good NG. Is there are a garden on top of the Shard? I may be getting mixed up with another building I read about, perhaps it's the Walkie Talkie building.

Not that I am aware of @JWK . I certainly didn't see one. To be honest, we didn't really stay too long, because we wanted to fit in other stuff. I am just getting some pics sorted,

Taken on a Nokia 1020. The poppy display :)
The panoramic pics come out a bit soft. I did a really basic edit in windows, but I don't think you can sharpen an image on it.

Here are a few miscellaneous shots. I quite like taking shots showing 'old with new'.
Looking soft again web size, due to lack of sharpening again. Annoying.

The Shard pics. I couldn't really avoid the reflections.
Well....after uploading these, they look pants on the web
I will have to re-do them sometime, but at least you get a peep.

Me too @Zigs . I went to Picadilly looking for the Trocadero arcade and shopping centre. We spent 10 minutes talking to a really friendly bobby. He told us it had shut down some time ago, and was being made into a hotel :snork:
He said that personally, it made things easier for him and his colleagues :heehee:
We ended up having a discussion about what was best....Xbox or Ps4 :heehee:

Brilliant photos NG and glad that you had a good time, although I think £80 odd squid for a trip up the shard a tad expensive unless the price has come down a bit since I last looked at the prices on the net:biggrin:

Thanks for putting up some photos of mine and Mr Kandys poppies, and can't wait for them to be delivered but hope they don't get damaged in the post.:snork:

Would love to go back to London to visit the Natural History Museum and London Zoo again but don't think we could cope with 8+ Squillian people wandering around:rolleyespink:

Are they £25 each or something for the poppies? Its £30 to go up The Shard, but its better to go up it than the other way around :snork:
We found London very quiet, even during rush hour on the tube :yay:

I got lied to then NG by that website that said it was £80 + to go up it?Still wouldn't though as I suffer from height fright.Couldnt even go on that big Ferris wheel either for the same reason:snork:

The Poppies could be £25 each will have to ask Mr Kandy as he ordered them from the Royal British Legion website and the money is for a good cause:love30:

There must be something wrong with this computer of mine NG As it keeps cutting your head and eyes and nose off of your avatar:snork:

You will suffer from geezer fright too, if you click on view profile, and see the whole image
I am not good at heights either. I could probably do the wheel as it doesn't look too high once there. The Shard is fine because its solid. You don't really sense the height to get scared.
Yes, that is a worth while cause, I agree :blue thumb:
