    Hi
Just wondering if anyone has any small plant pots or window boxes that theyre not using? I ordered 100 plug plants from Van Meuwen - they have turned up but are a lot larger than I expected so I'm in desperate need for some pots so that i can get them all potted and on our windowsills for the winter
    Thank you in advance

Yes definitely - just need them really urgently as I now have 100 plug plants sitting in the bath, with only enough plants for half of them

sorry to sound orid but you only joined on here on the 10 September and this is your 4th post .
I would imagine it would be cheaper if you went to your local DIY and bought them or lots of garden centers have help yourself pots etc and dont charge.

Spruce I don't understand your comment about being horrid - are you saying I shouldn't be making any posts since I've only been joined a month, or are you saying i haven't made enough posts?
I'm not sure where to go to buy such a large quantity in bulk - is there anywhere you would recommend please? I have tried Wilkinsons on the way home tonight, but they dont appear to have any gardening things left at the moment. I know places like B&Q sell pots, but I checked on line and they only sell packs of 3 or 5 - i as hoping to find somewhere I can get in the region of 50 plus pots very fast. I've not heard of garden centre help yourself pots - surely they don't give pots away for free? I know the garden centres near us quite well, but they only ever seem to have large ceramic pots for sale. Thank you for all your help

You could try your local plant nursery they sometimes have bins full of used ones that are free, also some garden centres too:blue thumb:

I don't think Spruce meant any offence :) and of course you are here to post

Pity you didn't post this in July ... I could have sent you a goodly amount (just not quite 100!) :wallbanging:

May I ask what plants they are? Maybe it would help members give you some ideas on what to do with them over winter? :noidea: 100 plants on windowsills would never fit in my home so maybe we can inspire you to do something equally productive with them if we know what they are. For example, do you have a garage? An out-house? :dunno:

Do you have a £ shop with washing up bowls that you could plant a good few of your plugs into? :noidea: (Trying to think outside the box here :heehee: )

As far as I'm aware there is no rule that says you have to achieve a certain post count before you can post:scratch:

If you have no luck with actual pots, what I sometimes do is just get cheapo plastic picnic cups. You know the ones, they're about £1 for 50 in the supermarkets, the white throwaway ones. They work fine for very young plants that need a bit more space than their plug that they came in, but don't yet need all the space of a decent sized pot. If you go down that route though, be sure to stick some drain holes in the bottom.

To be honest, I don't think it matters whether a new member has only been a member for a month and has only posted 4 times. However, some more members are putting in more advice so you might want to give them some thought, Tripwire.:coffee::snork:

I use the poly pots from 2 wests, cheap as chips :)

Steady on Spruce, Trip's only looking for advice.

You could also plant up several in any larger pots you may have lying around:blue thumb:

No Ziggy - Trip was asking if any of us could spare some pots for him.
And, Spruce did NOT "being horrid " , he said "sound horrid".
lets get the facts right first,

Unfortunately, Jenny, sounding " 'orried" can be misconstrued as "being 'orried" especially if you query the member's right to ask if he's only been a member for a month and only made 4 posts. But I know Spruce and he is not a person who would be 'orrid to anyone and is always helpful and generous, it was just the way the sentence was phrased.
But I would like to ask that we don't divert from Tripwire's theme by holding a postmortem on something that is now finished.:coffee::snork:
