I have had a red hot poker for about 2 or 3 years now, and it still hasn't poked. I even moved it into a sunnier spot, but it just looks like a spider plant all the time

Not enough sun by the sound of it plus it needs really well drained soil , the soil may be too rich ? and it does take two years for them to settle in , do you know the variety ?

It is in a large pot, and would have been put in compost.
I am not sure of its name. I think I got it in B&M.

they dont like growing in pots as the roots go deep ... but saying that I do grow "Little maid" you reminded me in a very large terracotta pot but its on the tender side so it goes in the greenhouse over the winter , but its a very small variety

If possible can you plant yours in the border ?

Well, plant fashion is like all fashion, it goes around in a circle coming into vogue and then out of favour and then back in vogue again.:dunno: I like them and have a few in my collection........and they're never out of favour with me:heehee:

                    Yours look great

It was in a gardening book I bought in the 70's for my mum , it was a lady that wrote a gardening column in the newspaper, I think on Saturday I think her name was Zinnia ? she was well known in the 60's , and in the book was "Springtime" I did have it in 2011 it had taken me years to track down and it died in that bad winter !!!!
                    On the wish list Longk
