    Hi All
Did any one watch this last night. :doggieshmooze:

Where do they find these people from .

Basically the program is about six puppies in 6 new families and how they all get on.

3 out of the 6 not to bad at looking after a new puppy but the others ..... :wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging:

If I was watching this and it was one of my puppies they had I would go and get it back asap , but should be interesting how they all get on , 2nd part tonight at 8.00pm BBC2

Yeah, not sure what they were expecting.
Dont watch much TV but saw this.

I think it just goes to show why so many sanctuarys are overfilled with unwanted dogs.

Its very like gardening, people seem to be in some kind of dream world that it doesn't involve much input from them.

As very experienced breeder I would not for one moment let any puppy of mine go to people like that, It gave me the shivers....Why would any one go for a large X breed when they live in such a small house and not much in the way of garden.
It beggars belief that any breeder would sell to homes like that with children but I know only to well they do. If they had been pedigree pups they would have had back up of the breeds rescue and advice but as crosses ie mongrels they don't.PS Don't know if I have the stomach to watch the 2nd part

Cant work out which one I hated most, the ones that bought a puppy for the kid in order to get him away from his Xbox, because he wanted a lively dog, and then suddenly decided he didn't.

Or the tart that said, he, (the 3 month old puppy), wont be long for this world if he keeps on biting.

This made my blood boil!! the whole positive only training method ( JC, anyone can bribe a dog with food!!!) is setting the current dog owning population for a fall!! and who will pay the price? the poor dog of course!!! I advocate the same methods of behaviour modification as mother nature, just watch how a mother disciplines her puppies and copy that, no brianer!!!

Oh you are so right, Used to spend hours watching bitches doing exactly that... humans could learn a lot. No warning just in there pup on its back screaming its head off bitches paw on the chest until she figured he knew how to behave then she just used to walk off, Pup got up had a shake what always used to amuse me if it was a male it always used to check his differentials:snork:

Pete you picked the two I choose as well , and the word "attack" from a tiny puppy , the "t-rt" :lunapic 130165696578242 5: your words not mine ;)that needed training herself to bring up two kids

As a lot know on here already I showed and bred English cocker spaniels , and the list of requirements to get one of my pups I even done a house check and garden check and if they did not agree they never got one simple as that, I done my best to have healthy out going puppies from parents with as little genetic problems as possible for the veterinary knowledge at the time

                  Going off subject
I have another neighbor who thinks I work part time because my gardens front and back looks so impressive she told me , when I said no "full time" she looked shocked!!! beggars belief .

My first mother in laws idea of house training a pup was to leave the back door open, we ended up with the pup. Springer Spaniel.
I used the same method to train my dogs and children, praise them when good, correct them when misbehaving.

Glad everyone else thought some of these owner were a bit shocking

I use to work at pets and home and the conversations you would have with some people was purely shocking. Some you could discuss other ways of doing things with or try and help lead them in the right direction

Others you know you just had to smile and be polite because there was no way they would do things differently and didnt think they were doing things wrong and that is why their dog was behaving like that

Most were lovely dogs with great owners tho.

What would surpise me the most is some people would pick a puppy up from the breeder then come straight to pets at home to get everything it needed

This baffled me everytime I personally would get everything set up before i was getting the puppy and then take the puppy straight home and let it settle in rather than hold it while walking round a store with lots of people and other dogs. Lots of the puppies would be shaking so badly. What was worse is the oweners wouldnt even know what they needed.

Hi Spruce, I had Shih Tzus, in my hey day had a dozen, They took the place of kids that had grown up and moved on, How rewarding dogs and puppies loved them all like kids they mostly came every where with me in crates, from being a few weeks old to get socialised and to make sure they were never travel sick,Then got into showing them, preparation took hours, the excitement all the driving one end of the country to the other in a day, up at 4am on the road by 5, and the final reward Reserve Challenge Certificate at Crufts 2000 with my home bred dog Camglia Hereaus Highlight, Didnt sleep for weeks thinking about it. I just have one little old lad left 12 years old the son of Highlight. Have some lovely pics but cannot get my head around this wi fi printer scanner thing should have hung on to the old one.But if you would like to see Dumpling his picture is on the Shih Tzu Club Website,or Google Camglia Shih Tzus. Have also overseen rehoming for rescue. so am so very well aware of the problems little puppies face, and have had at some time my kitchen full before I would let any go to what I deemed unsuitable people there are quite a lot of amateur breeders like me who care.
Sorry ranted on a bit, Dogs my favourite subject along with my garden plants.:doggieshmooze:

show not over here. However, so much need for proper human training on how to select the right breed, how to raise a puppy. Or even if you should own a dog, cat or a fish. People have not a clue what it takes to raise a puppy to be a socially appropriated soul. I had two GSD, both went through advance obedience training and titled, every night you work with them, and lots of walking and every weekend something to challenge their minds. Lots of love and attention they need.
