Yahoo is web based, so it's very unlikely to be a problem on his PC, here's some things he can do

    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/yahoo-account/account-sending-spam-sln3417.html

I know he has taken his PC into an expert so I hope they don't charge for fixing a problem that doesn't exist on his PC. I could be wrong, be interesting to hear what they say.

Thanks John. :) Well the expert turned out to be not so expert, unfortunately he wasn't recommended to my brother and he has altered things on the computer without my brothers permission. Whether he has got rid of the initial problem my brother's yet to find out.

Two weeks ago my brother signed up and paid for Kaspersky anti-virus which was up and running. For some reason this so called expert has uninstalled it and put the free version of Avast on instead. Why on earth would he do that? Especially without speaking to my brother first. My brother also said that the man has moved things around and he can't locate a certain amount of files etc.

I wish he had spoken to me before he went to this chap!

Probably because Kaspersky is not particularly well thought of. He should have discussed it though!

Against stepsons advice I had it on the strength of that. It slowed my browsing down and when I downloaded a rogue Minesweeper game the virus attached swept straight in. Now deleted and back with AVG.

I should add that stepson designs and writes software for a living.

I've stuck with AVG, it's always been reliable for me so no need to change. As Shiney said in another thread, if it ain't broke don't fix it! :)

I hope so to John, time will tell. My brother has changed his password and is considering changing his email address, just to be on the safe side. :)
