    I'm guessing at Fraser or Douglas fir Dianne. :) Silver Surfer is out plant identification expert and may be she'll come along and confirm it for you.

        Conifer id is a mine field..... even with the tree right next to you where you can touch and smell it!
        Normally I wouldn't attempt a conifer id from a pic such as this.

        However, I am inclined to think it is Picea abies...a Norway spruce...
        one used commonly as a Christmas tree.
        I just have a feeling someone popped a small one into the garden after Christmas.

        Help with id in link.



        To be sure you need to look at the base of the needles.
        It has a tiny lump where it joins the branch...commonly called a peg.

          Ooh thank you! I will inspect it in the morning! I get the feeling it was a Christmas tree.

          @Silver surfer i have taken some better photos, what do you think? I have tried to get what could be the pegs in it? Thank you for your help
