Forgive me for not being around and posting for awhile. Things just seem to catch up with me.
Anyhow. Some good news on the computer front.
    I have a late 2011 macbook pro 17"
It has recently had a new logic board fitted. (Apple free repair)
Thinking that the logic board is a major piece of hardware on board I decide to upgrade the original clonky old apple HHD (Hard disk drive) with top notch Samsung SSD 1TB drive.
Had a few hick ups on the way but now it is installed my mac is way better then new.
the read / write speeds are really amazing and so is the boot from cold. In theory it is 13 times faster then the old platten hard drive. Another bonus is it runs a lot, lot cooler.Thats has to be bonus as well.
The point of my post is that if you are thinking about replacing your HDD with a SSD. Go for it. But make sure you do all your research and the process required before attempting the upgrade. It will be worth it.

I recently replaced my old cheapo Win8 laptop with a whizzy new Win 10 ultra book with SSD and I'm very pleased with it.

Have to agree. I moved to SSD two years ago on my main Windows PC.
Quieter, cooler, much faster and less liable to mechanical faults

One drawback with this SSD. With the old HHD fitted If I had a cold left hand I would rest it on the left hand side of the mac and warm it up. It does not get hot enough for that now !! Honestly though this is by far the best move I have made on any PC over the years.
