    Taken downwind, kneeling in a ditch with arms resting on bank to help steady telephoto, but they still saw me and I couldn't get closer.

      That would have been back in October, I was also there then but didn't see any as unfortunately I had to cut my trip short due to relatives ill-health.

        Most of what we see around here are the introduced Sika Deer and a few Roe Deer.
        Reds are far more impressive.:dbgrtmb:

        My daughter's seen Sika at Brownsea, and I've seen deer in fields near to the Frome at Wool, but as driving couldn't ID them.
