I'd probably sequence (bottom up) gravel, old soil and organics, new soil, cardboard, bark chipping,...then plant through the cardboard into the soil

The 10 Glossy Ibis moved close to Wareham town this morning, feeding in the flooded fields by a public footpath a few 100yds from home. I just hope they stay around for the winter.
