Indeed, I only make grooves and holes where the plants go with some compost. Why put good compost where there will be no plants. I have just made some planters so will need to fill these up. When I used to volunteer at the botanic garden, plants from abroad just got put into the appropriate greenhouse - cool, intermediate or warm. Those black tent structures are, I'm sure, structured to avoid people seeing what is being grown under very intensive conditions

I was given some of those cheese hot cross buns and I couldn't even give them away, even the local pigeons looked unimpressed.I was however given some rhubarb and custard ones and they were quite nice.
