@GreenFingeredPete I agree re tomato seeds. I keep packets sealed in the fridge, and have had good germination of Purple Cherokee for 3 years. There were about 100 seeds in the packet - shame to waste them. I grew about 10, and gave spare youngsters to friends.

If you did decide to remove your grass areas @machtucker, Hakonechloa makes good ground cover. I have it planted under an Acer in my lower garden shown below in summer, autumn and winter.
