Hi, does anyone grow schizophragma hydrangeoides? I was given one some years back and it's done well but not been in its forever spot yet. Was wondering how and where people are growing it? I know it would do well up a tree and that they grow massive but despite it seemingly loving the full sun...

@CarolineL That was what I thought, it was around certainly all morning and into the afternoon. That rosemary is in flower just about all year round and over winter on a sunny day plays host to various bees and flies.

@Perki I bought that Acer in 2020 out of naivety that red leaves look nice. Reality was that in the first spring, it lost all its leaves to leave scorch. I took it out of the ground and put it into a barrel pot for 2 years to have it in a shade corner. It had a poor life because a tree in a pot...

The bed is 6m x 1/2m two strips. Bit expensive and labour intensive with straw. Vine weevil I did not know about, I'll look that up. I will dig out the older plants and let the new suckers take over.

I think it is about 2.5ft deep, so a fair size. Whatever is in there gets watered daily along with the hanging baskets etc. I do actually have the components of an auto-watering system in the shed, just not had time to install it... maybe that is a task for this year

I tried the lemon and white chocolate hot cross buns and found it a nice change. I asked hubby if he liked his cherry bakewell one two days ago and he can't remember having had one. Men!

Olivia Rose Austin may also be suitable, judging by the picture in the Handbook which arrived today.

As well as the Lonicera nitida another which may do well is Griselina - evergreen, quite fast growing and doesn't appear susceptible to disease.

@Palustris I'll wait for it to flower. It's wedged itself between a geranium and a veronica. If it behaves like the lesser jobs, it's unlikely to do any harm.
