Grass clippings worked well for me in containers, just add them in thin layers or they turn into a slimy mess. Bit of shredded cardboard mixed in helps too.

That's right, I have them in my garden, they come in from the hedgerows. I leave them in odd corners because they're pretty and brighten the place up, but I get rid of lots too.

What's Looking Good March 2026
The hellebores are putting on a proper show this year. Mine have been going since January and still look fresh. First year I've had pulmonaria flowering this early too, the bees are all over it.

...just be aware of the effect of salt water runoff buildup affecting other plants nearby... It might just be easier to use unsalted water from a kettle - perhaps if you have a little left over...
