Oil thefts have been going on for a long time but I suspect it has increased recently. The $ price per barrel seems the only reference so far and that is rising despite both the US and our own govt. saying they are "dealing" with it. The cost here to get 500 litres has gone from £600 + to £800...

Today I took down the wall in my garden and rebuilt it in a better shape and give me a little more planting space. It took me 3.5 hours and every muscle in my body hurts .Pleased I got it done though .Tomorrow I will go and buy manure, compost and topsoil to fill it up and hope my back holds...

Coltsfoot, Tussilago, along the little road behind my garden. The flowers look as if they are going over, I didn't see them when open. The leaves appear in the summer time.

Must admit I do cover mine, but only slightly, the birds used to pull them out, or maybe as the roots formed they pushed themselves out, but I plant with a trowel in a shallow hole these days, then just cover.Tried more walla walla seed a while back and still no show.

@Allotment Boy Be interesting to know how the San Marzano do for you. I did try some last year but got nothing worth the effort.

Not exactly pretty at this time of year, but really atmospheric. The ancient Gopa woodland is a five minute walk from our home and, although we didn't quite make it to the top this time, it's a good workout for the legs too.
