I used SBK stump killer on a holly bush in autumn of 2024 and there is no sign of any regrowth. You do need to apply it liberally and cover all exposed surfaces.

@LilyTL, yes, you can re-use the compost from the pots but you should remove any roots first. The removed compost would benefit from some granular fertiliser being mixed with it and/or some bagged manure to beef it up before re-using either in pots or in the garden.
