The repellent balls not working is so on brand for squirrels. Ours used to sit on top of the ultrasonic deterrent eating hazelnuts. Only thing that ever actually kept them off anything for me was...

I repotted the Rangoon Creeper into a larger pot, repotted the Abutilon I did from seed and put a creeping Thyme into a wall halngng thingy .... not sure it will work but we'll see. Then just sat...
