Strangely enough I was talking to a woman this morning who came across a suicide victim hanging from a tree, thought to be three weeks old. The smell was the worst part she said.

Yes a moat is probably better, but I am so clumsy I'd probably knock everything and end up with water everywhere. Also you need to be very sure that the pot doesn't already have a slug population....
