I won't be driving on this one. This is just a weekend city break. The French driving experience is possibly for our main summer holiday.

Stood on the bridge that takes the road from the village to the beach, we sit on top of a small hill so the trains are often working quite hard and plenty of smoke and steam, this was coasting a bit with having two engines working.

That is exactly the problem, in your case your passport won't be accepted in the EU after September 2034 ! It hasn't 'expired' it will show expired date of June 2035.
