I only thought about doing this as an afterthought, having seen all the hips on the roses. They have been out all winter so I think they will have got cold already.I have put some in the germinator now and will plant the rest in may. Fingers crossed. Thanks

I agree with Woo. Just don't forget to enrich the hole you're putting them in. I take it they weren't named but just labelled "Red, Pink, White, Yellow"? It's a shame when they do that as it can be a great help if you know the specific rose so you can look up it's likes and dislikes, whether...

You'd have to try pretty hard to over roses. But there's different needs for roses in containers than those that are in the ground. Hi Kimkim, I've got one coming up in a poly pot that I assume came from a bird poo. Have a look for hips along the railway embankments, if the birds havn't eaten them all by now. Break the hips open, they will have several seeds inside plus free itching powder :D
