Having received great advice here before....

...hopefully someone can advise how best to keep this area between two fences tidy.

Its about 6inches wide, falls between two 3ft tall fences and runs the length of the garden (about 12metres)

Its looking nice at the moment as I tidied the area in the course of removing and renewing the Chainlink; but obviously such radical measures aren't feasible to continue to keep it tidy.

The slope of the garden provides for a few inches beneath the Chainlink at one end, room for a pair of Shears; but this peters out at the other. Whomever put the concrete posts in should've accounted for this at the time but clearly didn't.

My 90+ year old neighbour (remarkable!) has beds in some places on the other side, with a couple of Roses in them, so I can't spray Weedkiller or similar to keep it barren.

I'm hoping that there's a cheap, quick & simple 'fix' which'll prevent it looking like a jungle in there in a few months time.

    Thanks.

NB: the main area of garden up to the fence will be Grass

Can you cover it in landscape/weed barrier cloth and then put a bunch of large mulch on top ?

Is the chain link even needed if there’s a fence there?

I’d remove it apart from supporting wires and maybe grow a few climbers. Leave the posts if it marking the boundary.

I think I'd have to go along with @BellaBlue and ask if the chain link fence is necessary, if not could you not just allow the grass to grow up to the fence?

A good idea Lori. :blue thumb: Or covering it with membrane and gravel.

Another vote for getting rid of the chain link fence. If your neighbour is having trouble maintaining the wooden fence, it's still likely to be less effort for you to help them than for you to maintain an entire second fence. And it looks so much better.

Another vote to remove the chain-link. I'd then grow Clematis up the posts.

thanks for all your responses :)

Me-thinks Membrane & Gravel makes the most sense, because unfortunately the Chain-Link can't be disposed of, the House being rented.
