    @Marley Farley - you can always be unlucky with any brand, or lucky if you take a punt on some of the brands that are what I would call a definite risk. The likes of Hotpoint, Creda, Candy, Indesit and Beko are what I would class as being the most likely to let you down or die early.

    The likes of Bosch, Siemens, Neff, Miele, Panasonic, Samsung, LG and Smeg are what I would class as the least likely to let you down.

    Yes, you will get the odd Bosch or Siemens appliance that is a bit of a lemon, but equally you could get a Hotpoint model that is actually pretty good, so this is all a bit general. I do feel a wee bit sorry for Whirlpool, as they inherited this problem when they bought the bulk of the company - - but, my sympathy is limited by the fact that they have completely failed to get a grip of the problem and deal with it. The odd lemon model does happen sometimes, but the mark of a good company is how they deal with the problem.
