I'm confused about these, are they actually a fryer or an oven, only I noticed some comments saying, don't use the oven now, and others saying they fry things. Be interested as to how they work, I impression is like an enclosed grill with a fan?

Queen of the Night seems to be the consensus here. I've got a few red ones that keep coming back year after year but honestly couldn't tell you what variety they are anymore, the labels vanished ages ago. The red ones always seem the most stubborn about returning which suits me fine.

I tried eating field beet i found in a fallow field in wales, was tough and somewhat flavourless. looks impressive though.

I grow it in the frozen east of Scotland. Well currently it is baltic and we had snow today, didn’t lie thou. I grow it in a relatively sheltered spot. Had it for over 20 years, no bother. Survived-18oC in 2010 and still going strong.
