Yes a moat is probably better, but I am so clumsy I'd probably knock everything and end up with water everywhere. Also you need to be very sure that the pot doesn't already have a slug population. I've been tidying up the greenhouse and found loads hidden under the pots.

We have 2 cats of our own tho only one hunts and she does small rodents, not rats. The other is clueless. There are farm cats just behind us and feral cats too but we had dogs until almost 2 years ago so cats were reticent about visiting our plot.There are foxes about too but not catching rats!

I've only ever used it myself as a soil improvement. You can usually only get it in bulk, not really looked to see if you can get it in bags.

And very nice as well and a good size …make sure you water once a week will be fine..

I started my tomatoes today in the afternoon sunshine with a nice cup of coffee, listening to Rachel Ziegler singing ‘Don’t Cry Me Argentina’, I think I sowed Mamalade, Roma and Red Cherry.What could be better!
