Is my new lawn going wrong?
Welcome to Gardeners Corner Craig.
You can also stop watering it or it will rot. The roots will have established by now and and dew or rain will supply what it needs over the winter months.

Total mess of a garden!
As long as you're still happy to play then age shouldn't be a problem, unless the team pension you off of course.

Advice on lawn edging.
A lawn will drop over time so make sure the top soil is level with the path before laying the turf/seeding. This will ensure after settling the lawn is level with the path.
