To me, spending hours wandering around a well-stocked nursery on a nice summer day is about as good as it gets. To my partner, it is a particularly nasty form of torture which should have been banned long ago under the Geneva Convention but, for some inexplicable reason, has so far been overlooked by international law. I therefore rely quite heavily on mail order.

I am quite impressed by Style Roses, which supplies not only bare root plants through the autumn, but also containerised specimens which you can buy all year round. Postage and packing is not cheap - £8.50 for one container grown rose - but the latest addition to my garden arrived in perfect condition, beautifully boxed, via next day delivery.

Looks a good site, I notice it's free delivery of bare rooted plants if you order over £100. So it would pay you to order more Clare :)

I like the look of Style Rose, Clara Lou, especially as I'm trying to finish off building an arbour, a bad reaction to a restaurant meal of fish has stopped that for the moment:cry3::rolleyespink: Anyway they've got Compassion and Alchymyst climbing roses in pots, which is how I prefer them, a lot cheaper than David Austin even with the post.:yess:
          So thank you, Clara Lou:D:thumbsup:

Dunno how I missed this thread, but I did 'til now.

I was looking at Style Roses, a few weeks ago, and the following day aged parent wanted me to get 'Sweet Dream' patio rose. So I had another look and sure enough they had some. To counter the postage charge, I made the order up with 3 other roses which I had earmarked, as they were on their monthly offer. The £12 P&P charge for the 4 was much more reasonable and they arrived in a couple of days. Highly recommended.
