I have several tree ferns dicksonia Antarctica. At the moment the trunks are wrapped with fleece and the crowns are stuffed with straw and a rain reflector to reduce the wetness when it freezes.
Some people recommend removing the fronds at some point before spring while others say to leave the fronds to die off on their own.
Is there a real difference? We are an NGS garden and we start opening in the spring so the sooner they display the better.

    Leave the fronds on.
Make sure you still water them regularly, trunk and crown.

I have a ball of fleece in mine, still watering them, trying to keep the fronds on them.

Have given a bit of seaweed also last week.

Just make sure they dont dry out in the cold winds.

Thanks for that. I shall leave them on.
