Not tried it on dogs, but it works with chickens, who I consider to cause a lot more damage, able to turn a lawn to a mud bath within a week or so. It allows the grass to grow through the gaps, but the root system remains unharmed from digging and scratching.

As far as I could have experienced, winter in our latidudes in western Europe is not much a threat for the "health" of a lawn. However it might be "cold" a winter in western Europe, it is hardly colder than 10 celsius degrees below freezing point. We live not in such continental Europe countries...

Well I don't have an estate. I only have 2 1/2 acres. So the total of my bulbs so far over the last 20 years is 60,000. I guess if I owed an estate with 900 acres then I could hire folks to plant a huge crazy amount.
