I'd nip off the top couple of inches then it will start to get side shoots....the bit you nip off you can remove some of the bottom leaves wack it in a small pot of compost then...

How long has it been in the ground Laker as it could be frost damage. To be honest I think the plant is dead. You could try digging it up to see if there is any life in the roots, if so trim off...

I think the idea is not to put the rose in the wine box..........just to buy a box of wine, drink the wine as you watch the rose grow.....and put your feet up on the box as you get steadily drunk!!
