    Who can identify this?

Thanks for the picture. At first I thought it was Lilac but the leaves aren't set right for that and now I'm struggling. I recognise it but can't put a name to it, sorry! Perhaps other members can...

Can anyone identify this bushy tree please?

Think Lolli is on the right track, some kind of prunus, possibly plum, or damson. Dammed if I can see the fruit, but then I am a bit sloe at times.

    Is this a fruit tree?

Looks wrong for Sloe, but could be a Damson that hasn't born any fruit, are the stems just as red all around, or is one side lighter?

    diseased plum tree?

Hi Jemma, That looks more like physical pest damage...probably caterpillars. If the tree is not too big to spray, there's a treatment called bacillus thuringiensis which specifically controls them.
