Trees

I've got a little orchard drawn on my garden plan! Near the house a fruit tree would get plenty of sun, but there's very occasionally standing water and fierce winds and perhaps fruit trees like softer conditions? What do you think?

if you were in Alaska by now you would have plenty of tsunami driftwood on the shores coming from Japan.

That sounds good. The tree is currently about 1.5 times the height of the house so it is big, but we all have long gardens so it's a long way from any house.

I wouldn't raise floor level kamchow. I'm sure they will,hit 2 metres inside 3 years. Making sure the soil is enriched and well fed for at least double the size of the pot will help produce good strong growth. I find Photinias make rapid growth in their second year.

This is why I forced my lemon to like it outdoors, if it doesn't it's tough **** Outdoors is the best remedy.. of course much more risky than RSM in our climate ;-)

its a betel nut , Bilbo , it will make a nice palm tree as well . I seriously think to go back and buy few more ....

yes a light spray dont go crazy , also keep out of any draughts , palms are tougher than people think but its usually over watering that rots the roots with most house plants. Spruce

Hi Alex Its the best variety to have in the UK and its self fertile so you dont need another Quince for it to set fruit , need full sun . Good choice Spruce

There's a huge list and this is a good time to be buying as bare rooted trees are so much cheaper. Think about Yew, expensive but lovely (will grow back if pruned hard), Beech and Hornbeam, cheep but not strictly green in the winter they don't lose their leaves at human height so are good for...

I've signed too. I don't get it. From the pics the garden looks ok already. I can work a chainsaw. Maybe I should quit my job and become a garden restoration expert and get paid a lot more.
