I planted a "dwarf" horse chestnut in my old garden; it has pink/purple flowers with a yellow centre, dull green leaves and after many many years it only reached 4/5ft in height and about 6ft spread, the 'chestnuts' got to about the size of a hazlenut but then usually dropped off. A lovely...

Hi polypodyWould it be possible for you to post a few pictures of the tree, just to help with diagnosing the problem. It sounds like some sort of canker or other infection that's affecting the amount of water flowing through the trees vascular system.

Ok, its too late now. I contemplated whether to leave it but when we started chopping it was obviously that there was no life at all in the branches. Im now waiting with fingers crossed that it returns. I'll let you all know how we get on. Thanks for the help,
