    Thanks for the welcome back

    It is appreciated

mmm many look like a mouldy lettuce (Agapanthus) but my own seedlings which I have grown for 15 years selecting only from the ones that survive outdoors with blooms I like look ok

The two originals only cost me 50 pence LOL

 :cry3: My huge clumps have been outside for 20 yrs & not suffered but last year they did a bit & although I gave them extra protection this winter not too convinced that they are OK yet... I will be gutted if I have lost them all.. Just waiting patiently now to see as they are such gorgeous blooms that last so long..!!!!! :WINK1:

What varieties would you recommend, Spruce? [Welcome back, by the way]. I have really sandy, light soil which has been much improved with continuous addings of manure and compost so it's in pretty good condition. but even with all the compost etc over the years it can rain heavily for hours and hours and I can walk out onto the lawn and it isn't even close to being waterlogged as I'm on about 300' of sand, and there's an old Roman Sand Quarry within 50 yards of my garden! I've tried the Headbourne varieties and lost them within 2 seasons - was it something I said???!! or is there something I'm missing in the cultivation? I'm sure that between you and Marley you can put me on the right track!!
