I have this Insect shelter perched in my Holly tree about 6' off the ground and the open bamboo ends lie East to West. Is there a more suitable position for it to be of maximum benefit to insects?

Looks fine to me Paladin. I've been looking for advice but have only found general advice on placing. Best bet is to fix to a wall, fence or tree in a sheltered, warm spot away from prevailing wind. Good idea to place them near to the flowers or vegetables that you want to protect.

Looks cool Nick, I wanted one of those for the lacewings. Is it for a specific insect type or 1st come 1st served ?

[IMG] Maybe they aren't tired or cold enough yet ? I started to make one but I need a few more bamboo canes to finish it and wasn't sure if the bamboo holes were big enough. Last two years I have found ladybirds hibernating on my cars parcel shelf.
