    Hi All,

Just thought I'd say hello so "Hello" all!!

We moved into our dream home this year on the outskirts of a village in East Devon with a 2 1/2 acre paddock, bog, dog, chickens, cats, guineas oh and 3 kids!

Paddock was pretty redundant when we bought it apart from some raspberry canes and rather wild strawberry plants.

Raspberries turned out great and with a bit of pruning back when we moved in gave us a nice crop this year. Strawberries didn't perform at all so looks like they need replacing!

Greenhouse was already in situ :dbgrtmb: which was a bonus so first attempts at growing toms under glass this year. Also threw in some chillies (Sante Fe - medium hot) and some peppers. Toms and chillies brill but peppers really stunted and bitter.

Outside we put in a veggie patch on sort of raised beds and had a cracking year with all the usual suspects including spuds and pumpkins performing well! :hapfeet:

We weren't without problems (currently plagued by mould!) but thought I'd join up and get some tips on maintaining the veggies and developing our cottage garden! Plans this year are to increase the size of the veggie patch and make better use of the paddock. Need to fence off so that the chickens can free range which looks like a big job but all good fun.

    Best wishes,

    MrM

Good guess, but not quite! Just outside Ottery St Mary, it feels like the bottom of the paddock has every tributary for the River Otter merging at it!

Thanks for the warm welcome and Catztail has absolutely nothing to worry about, Devon United!!

Will post up some photos when I can work it out in between getting kids to bed, catching escaped Guineas etc etc!!

Now to start learning from the real gardeners :D

I'm not worried anyway. If your army ever reaches the East Midlands Zigs no doubt I'll join up.

Ah Yes, MrsM has spent many a paypacket down there! Small organic garden centre which I prefer just outside West Hill, great advice and the friendliest staff ever that never try to sell you anything just seem happy to pass the time of day.

Anyway I'm going to try and upload a few photos of the errr....progress we've made!
