Hello!

Hi All
Our garden is in Greater Manchester
I am a trial and error gardener meandering through life with no plan!
My husband is the builder of all the structure and I act as labourer and planter!
The garden has evolved rather than been planned!
We garden under a mature tree canopy on a south facing plot.
The plot is on a hillside backing onto an old sand quarry. This means the garden comprises of a sand hill and clay spots with rich loamy soil in between! Levels all over the place.
I will upload photos shortly
We grow fruit and flowers and attempt veg! All with mixed success!
I enjoy gardening but am not a structured, confident or competitive gardener. I am genuinely amazed when whatever we are working on comes together or grows!

If only it was the odd failure Jenny - I feel like I am armwrestling mother nature at times !

 

We spend too much time trying to beat Mother Nature at her own game I think. Still, it's very satisfying when you can win!! One of the gardeners here has been eating red ripe tomatoes for the last week or two - grown in the green house under lights and extra warmth. In normal conditions, they would be nowhere near ready yet,

BTW
Not talking acres of garden here! Just a corner terrace plot on the edge of a ex sand quarry which has now been developed!
Most of the mature trees that border us are Ash and Sycamore - all under TPOs!
Just don't want to build up any expectations!

 

Goodness, sounds fantastic - somebody really dedicated and skilled!
My battles are more of the basics - Slugs, horsetail, bindweed, squirrels woodpigeons vine weevil to name but a few!
