I thought you might like to watch this video of the rescue of 200 horses from the flood in the Netherlands.

The video is six and a half minutes long and the music comes in after about one minute.

It's a lovely film. Just follow the link.

Thanks for that Shiney, though it stopped for me after 44 seconds :( I will have to try it again when I have another spare 6 minutes...

I saw the article on the news last week and was quite moved by it.It looked like there were people actually in the water with some of the horses holding on to them.Glad to hear they made it to dry land...

When Northampton flooded in 1997? a farmer in the next village to us had a large flock of sheep and lambs on an island surrounded with water. The lambs I think swam to safety but the adults drowned because of the weight of their fleeces. The farmer had been given enough time to get them off the island but he refused because he wanted the insurance money...I heard later that he had been prosecuted by the RSPCA...

That was lovely Shiney - well done the horse person who solved the problem. Driving them off would have led to panic and more deaths.

Thanks for sharing it with us shiney. Kandy, I cried a bit too, it was so moving. I liked the music too, it fitted the film, didn't it. But I did turn it down a bit. It was a very happy ending even if 18 of the horses died before they were rescued, what a pity.
