I'd like to grow some new potatoes but have never done so before. As I dont actually have a garden I was going to try and grow them inside a large plastic dustin full of compost. Is this possible?

Well Herb, I would have thought that you really needed a fist early type. But they are not available now, If you follow the link you'll find that they are growing all sorts. Not tried it myself so cant comment.

I've just planted my potatoes for October to Christmas and aparently I was told they'd be fine if I protect them from frost (i.e in greenhouse or cover with fleece)...

You can certainly grow them in pots and containers and this was my first year for new potatoes in the summer, and they are so much more tasty than the ones you get in the shops...

However they are prone to blight so keep and eye out for that if you grow them, and growing in pots is easy. I had great success although I also got blight!
