Dave, Although you can plant in the Spring, Autumn planting over there is about the best time as this will give you better sized bulbs to harvest... M-L

Courgettes, squashes and runner beans

I put ginger root in potting compost and keep it VERY moist till it roots .. must admit, not tried it in water, may have a go tomorrow!Have a nice weekend .. boa fim semana!

I am growing some pentland javelin and have dug up a few today to see if they are ready. Some are lovely little white potatoes and some are purple - why is that. The purple ones just...

this sounds very likely actually, the lower leaves have all but died off and the ones higher up and starting to turn yellow and there are brown streaks on the stems. Is it a fungal disease?

You'll certainly need to split the clump as leeks are quite hungry feeders and also need space. You might get away with potting them, but it would be a lot of work for a fairly small return....
