That's nice @ARMANDII , Marquerade is lovely isn't she, there's one on a trellis in this garden. ... I also have several plants that remind me of B because she was a plantaholic like me ! but some seem more 'special' than others

Got the trellis put up at the lotty. Put a few buckets of dirt into the tall raised bed. Also brought up a couple of wooden pallets ready for a water container to sit on. Also brought up a couple of concrete slabs for the ground.

Cut a old wooden greenhouse shelf to size so I can have two layers in the cold frame.

Last things to do at the lotty are:
        Guttering and water container
Add more compost to raised bed
        Add more stones to paths
        Make lid for cold frame

        ....not much

Cut back some more blackberries and put all the cuttings in the bin. Just got to tie in the new canes.

We actually bought ours, Mike, in the 80's as a bare root twig wrapped up in a cellophane packet from a now defunct Supermarket called "FineFare" for 10 shillings

or, for the uninitiated:heehee:, 50p. Best value Rose ever as it has flowered every year since then and still makes me smile.

Thanks for reminding me! It's such a relief to get rid of the tatty leaves and see the flowers in all their glory :)

Sadly, no sign of the flowers yet :noidea: but they always herald Spring. There's a hint of colour coming from some of the cowslips. primroses and polyanthus and that's why I have just done my final mowing, on a high setting, in the wild area. No more mowing until the orchids finish. :)

Quite a busy day today - emptied out the remaining pots from the greenhouse to get it ready to store all the pots and planters over the winter and to get the brugmansias in before we get any frost (came very close the other night, so not going to risk leaving them out now) - all plant material went into our composters, and the spent compost out of the pots went toward filing up the new raised bed at the back of the garden. It will need digging over again in the spring, but we did have some 'help' to get us started today.... :heehee:

I suppose mucky paws are happy paws...

Then we cut the grass - - yes, I know it is nearly the end of November and folks are putting up Christmas trees, but it needed cutting; besides, it was 11 degrees here today, so if that is too cold to cut grass then lawnmower sales in Scotland are going to dry up

Next up was to make a start on putting some more slate chippings into the 'step' area that leads onto the lawn; we added about two and a half bags, which is a start, but I reckon another half-dozen or so bags are needed for it to be right.

Then, everything was swept and then I gave the patio a quick going over with the pressure washer.

Please forgive this being taken from the bathroom window - we had little choice but to head straight up there and get a certain little furry man in the bath, closely followed by showers for ourselves.

As usual, I have pushed it way too far and am now in so much pain that pain killers are not really touching it. Hey ho, I'll recover..... I am not the only one snuggled up on the sofa either..

After overdoing things yesterday I needed some attention. Mrs Shiney started off by massaging my thumb and wrist otherwise I wouldn't have been able to prep the food for dinner :blue thumb:. Then a neck and shoulder massage was required and by this morning I was semi-human again.

I did a number of odd jobs around the garden this morning and after a lunchtime massage I dug and weeded an 5' x 4' area of brambles nasty weeds whilst being careful not to disturb the garlic that has 3" shoots already.

Fletch is such a cutie! :doggieshmooze::wub2:

Bike ride and dog walking and then a bit of gardening. Gardening consisted of raking out loads of leaves from the back shady border and putting them in the garden waste bin for the last collection of the year. Used the petrol blower to help - I love a gadget!

Lots still to do. Once I've done a tip run tomorrow I am hoping to get the jet washer out - all the paths are starting to look green and are a bit slippery. Then i'll get the wet & forget out.
