Solved What is this little thing? - chickens love it

    hallo,

    these things pop up all over the place - the chickens love it but what is it? i rip them out and add to compost bin.

    Looks more like Euphorbia than Chickweed. Euphorbia sap is a skin irritant.

      I thought it was spurge, cant imagine chickens liking that the sap is caustic.

        That is "Petty" spurge aka Euphorbia peplus

        Hallo scrungee, pete and jwk,

        thank you - as far as the chickens are concerned i've probably mixed it up with chickweed -- come to think of it you are right, it has a white sap just like euphorbia, i try to pull it up by the roots and that works well -- will think of it as 'peplus' from now on...
