Thanks for sorting this out :love30: :yay:

I finished off my evening in the garden with a giant bonfire. We had benn doing a lot of winter cutting back and all the woody stuff gets put on the heap. Although all of this is still green the grasses that had been cut back (lots of them at least 6-8ft high) had dried out very quickly. The heap was about 8ft high and 7ft diameter and went up like a rocket. Fortunately I had taken the hose down there and turned it on already and was able to hose down the surrounding trees, about 15ft away, whilst the flames shot out everywhere.

The neighbour's dog came to look and the blackbirds were making a hell of a racket!!! Ten minutes later it was just a pile of smouldering debris. The fastest bonfire I've yet had. Next fire job is to set fire to the cut down pampas grass. I do that every two years as the grass recovers very quickly and most of the weeds in it get knocked back a lot. I don't like to try and weed in there as the grass is too vicious. :rolleyespink:

Lots of fire here yesterday, burning stuff (mostly wood) that came out of the shed and was rotten or distorted. Lots more to burn today too - we use a bin burner thing, which is really quite effective, and the air flows quite well around the bottom of the fire. Got a lot to go to the dump today too.

Lots of activity in the garden this weekend, none of it by me!

We're the ground floor flat in a three storey converted house, and unbeknownst to us the top floor have been having big issues with the roof leaking. To get up there to inspect/fix the problem the roofers need scaffolding going up the back of the house from our patio, so that has been going up this weekend. Which has involved getting the scaffolding into the garden over the 12ft+ stone walls that enclose it

Meanwhile, the opposite back wall has been steadily crumbling and sagging for some time, so the neighbours have had a guy in to remove and replace the damaged sections. Sadly in the wrong place to be any use to the scaffolders :rolleyespink:

All in all it feels a bit like a goldfish bowl out there at the moment, so I'm steering well clear until it's all a bit quieter

Did a bit yesterday. Dug up the red currant ( new planting place ) and replanted it where the compost bins were.
Pulled out the washing pole with the lump of concrete and dug the hole deeper and resettled it in, thinking of getting some plastic mesh and wrapping it around and growing a clematis up it.
Put some grass seed down in patchy area's, rather early for grass seeds but it is very mild and supposed to get warmer this week .
Did a bit of gorilla gardening dug out the Iris pseudacorus and replanted it in a wet area, dug out a purple lupin planted where the Iris was , Lupins generally don't move well at all but its only been in 9months, its not quite got its big tap roots yet so should settle in nicely.

I am think what to do today  still got the odd plant to cut back might do that nothing else to do. Think I'll send my plant order off tonight :) hopefully they got all the plants in stock.

I hope you checked the bonfire before lighting it Shiney :).

Had around an hour yesterday. Was sunny to begin with but then clouded over and wind started picking up. I started emptying a pot of compost and halfway down realised one of the rats is buried there, so stopped. The pot is now moved next to the caravan steps and will be replanted, possibly with some Penstemons. Shovelled up a little more gravel from around the bog garden and removed a few weeds at the same time. I found two Poppy seedlings in the gravel, so have carefully extracted them and replanted - might take , might not. Checked on :hhog:. Fed birds and refreshed baths. Dragged some tree branches out of the soakaway that a storm snapped off and added them to a log pile.

@Verdun I'm more inclined to take your advice about Heleniums than what is written on labels :). Car sounds nice.

Finished preparing veg patch.......looks good now esp after another load of compost :)
Scent is everywhere....this morning heading to the beach the gorse was amazing; powerful coconut/almond scent. Witch hazel here, sarcoccocas, winter stocks etc all puffing out perfume. Birds singing, warm sunshine and daffodils and hellebores flowering their heads off. Could spring really be here???:hapfeet:
Cuttings taken of pelargoniums and fuchsias too.

Mostly indoors gardening this weekend, but took the time to admire the buds in shrubs, first Crocuses, anemones and the beastly mint the previous owner generously planted everywhere... The spring might be just around the corner now :)

I finally planted the pots we made from clay with cactus and Lithops seedlings. The style is apparently "Skandi Shabby Chic" (as defined by The Teenager who knows about these things), I'm still working on the chic- part.

Nearly finished the large container for Semprevivens. The seedlings may have to grow a bit before going in

Having a 5 min sit down before getting back outside. Been clearing the front garden border and digging it over ready for the Portuguese laurel...went over to the nursery after lunch and they're sorting it ready for delivery this coming week. yay!

Been digging out the last few shrubs and replanting - hopefully they will survive but I've taken cuttings etc. Got a load of hellebores that have spread so digging them up and potting for my lovely farmer neighbour who is getting me a digger load of her black gold :) The nice neighbours here more than make up for the nasty ones....

Anyway....better crack on - it's come over dark and cloudy here.

                              What is on fire?!?

Ah the two I've got around the side of the house are smelling soooo lovely. I think the last few warmer days have really helped their scent come out.

Well I'm just enjoying a Belgian beer and a well deserved rest before our Indian Takeaway turns up. We had a great go in the garden today. Dug out all the excess roots ready for the new hedging. YAY! Continued digging and replanting bits and tidying up. The manure is coming tomorrow and the hedging sometime this week when the chap gives me a call.

Feeling much better and so is Bea the woofer. She had a couple of days being off her food - very unlike her. But she's back to her cheeky self now. (thanks for those who asked how we were :) ). Funnily, I just made the dogs their dinner and I usually split two capsules of pre/probiotic powder into their dinner - instead I took them myself thinking they were pain killers - I must be tired!!! lol. hope I will be ok. ha ha.

We've just measured up the last bit of border that needs the edging replacing and about to order the sleepers from Jewsons. Will be nice when we get the borders all sorted.

Ah now I see. We used one of those bins to burn the old old shed instead of taking it to the tip. It was quite good but took a long time...still saved money having a skip and saved us having repeat trips to the tip.
