what is it?

    Hi all,i got this tree given to me a few years ago by an old guy that grew it from seed.apparently he got the seed from torquay grew it in a pot then planted it in his garden in notts.He gave the tree to me as he was moving to torquay to retire but i cannot remember what he said it was called.Its doubled in size in the last few years and only within the last few weeks its sprouted at the top what looks like buds?,does this tree flower? and can anyone tell me what it is? thanks.

    Hi gremlynn, at first I thought Cordyline, also known as Torbay Palm or Cabbage Palm, but it could also be a Yucca. Are the leaves soft, or fleshy with sharp points on the tips?
    Both of these have flowers.

    Yep, its cordyline australis.
    And its flowering, after flowering they usually branch.

    the leaves are broad and flat with pointy tips.

    when it flowers will the flowers turn to seeds?
