    Hello!

I have something growing in the garden which I thought may not grow new shoots, however it has, and I've no idea what this might be at all! The shoots are coming from the old root part of the plant.

Does anyone have any ideas? A friend of mine who visited thought it might be some kind of rose, but wasn't sure... Thank you very much for your wise knowledge in advance!

Looks vaguely like an elderberry to me.

Seconded, the foliage and colour of the bark does make me think of a young Elderberry!

Agreed Elderberry (Sambucus niger), leaves, bark and the hollow stems are typical. Allow to grow if you want Elderflower champagne or Elderberry wine. It is to close to the fence they can easily grow 6ft in a season. Flowers and fruit come from last years growth. Also the fruit stains like mad even after passing through a pigeon or a blackbird.
