Hi all. I am fairly new to gardening, if you can call it that. I have no garden, only a small space on my communal balcony for a few pots. Me and my 2 yo daughter want to make it a bit brighter out there. I also have some house plants too. Hoping I can pick up some helpful hints and tips and ask a few questions :)

Small spot for pots on a communal balcony plus houseplants can still bring a lot of pleasure to both you and your 2yo daughter.
Just answered on your sweet pea thread; those are going to smell divine and bring a lot of pleasure for everyone within sniffing distance
Which direction does your balcony face? Does it have a railing of any kind that you can take advantage of for extra growing space?
Looking forward to getting to know you around the forums :spinning:

Welcome to the forum. Container growing is one of my favourite ways to garden. If the plant is in the wrong place, you can simply pick it up and move it!

Hi "M" I think I answered your post on my sweet pea thread. The balcony is SE facing but unfortunately it is a brick wall balcony so no railing to use. It is a fairly sheltered spot that gets probably around 4-5 hours direct sunlight. I am hoping I can get something growing out there. Will see you around I'm sure :)

Hi thanks for the welcome, I am complete beginner when it comes to planting from seed. Hopefully will get something pretty in the end :)

Oh goody, goody! That means the brick wall will absorb any heat from the sun and keep your plants warmer
Excellent, because that extends the types of plants you will be able to grow
