My dad had a grape vine in the early 1960's, he planted the root outside and the stem was threaded inside and along the inside of the ridge. Does anyone else grow such things, Figs or soft fruits?

Burnie - I have never grown one - but my sister, for a long time, had one the same way. Root outside and fruit inside.

Not something I will rush at, will have at least one season with "annuals" first, but a small Cherry or a grape might be nice.
